Dr. Zina L. Evans

Associate Provost for Enrollment Management and Executive Director of Admissions

Zina L. Evans is the Associate Provost for Enrollment Management and Executive Director of Admissions at the University of Florida. She is responsible for providing campus-wide leadership in developing and advancing the University's recruitment and enrollment goals.

Dr. Evans has over 20 years experience in higher education administration in such areas as admissions and enrollment management, academic affairs, student services and residence life. Her work has included strategic planning, assessment, policy development, program development, market research, and data analysis. She's worked at such institutions as UC Berkeley, UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara as well as the University of Maryland. In addition, she held the position of Director of Research for the National Association for College Admission Counseling where she managed research activities focused on the needs of admission counseling and enrollment management professionals as well as serving as a resource for information on research regarding admission and financial aid for public and private institutions. Dr. Evans also held the position of affiliate assistant professor at the University of Maryland in the College of Education's department of Counseling and Personnel Services.

Her previous experiences and research have allowed her to develop an understanding of students and their needs as they progress through college. As a result her research interests focus on the issues of access, retention and persistence in higher education.

Her other involvement's have included serving on the Educational Testing Services TOEFL Advisory Committee; executive member of the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education and a three-year appointment on the National Post-secondary Educational Collaborative, a research collaborative of the US Department of Education. Currently she serves on the SAT Advisory Committee for the College Board, the State University System Admission and Registrar Committee, the Executive Board of the New World School of the Arts and the Curriculum Review Committee for the Florida Board of Education.

Dr. Evans holds a Ph.D. in College Student Personnel Administration from the University of Maryland, a Masters of Science in Human Development, Counseling and Family Studies from the University of Rhode Island and a Bachelors degree in Social Ecology from the University of California, Irvine.
