Welcome

Welcome! It is my pleasure to greet you and present this office and its website to you.
The Office of the Associate Provost for Faculty Development reports to and assists the Provost on a broad range of concerns. Its staff partners with each of UF's colleges, centers, departments and other units to provide support for faculty excellence in research, service and teaching.
The primary aim of this office is to make the University of Florida known as a welcoming, supportive, informative and responsive work environment by focusing on faculty life and career growth. Throughout the year, we provide services and opportunities which enhance recruitment, retention, diversity and excellence in research, teaching and learning.
We believe a University's excellence is based on the synergy between its organizational goals and the professional and personal aspirations of a diverse faculty. This is why we consider faculty work as much a way of living as it is a career choice. The Dual Career Services Program, "Conversations About..." series, Provost's Diversity Speakers Series, new chair and new faculty orientations as well as the University Teaching and Learning Center (u-TLC) , among other activities and programs sponsored by this office, are managed with this philosophy in mind.
Every effort made on behalf of UF faculty members is the result of what I call the three "Cs" of academic success: communication, collaboration and coordination. It takes each of these to secure a healthy and meaningful life course and professional environment for faculty.
Consider this web site and the Faculty Development office portals to a multitude of faculty enhancement activities and opportunities available throughout the University. Peruse the information and access the links this site provides. Make it your virtual home away from home. Pull up a chair and stay a while. And, if you have ideas for making the site work more efficient for you and your needs or if you are looking for information you cannot find, move the furniture a bit by e-mailing your ideas and suggestions. I am always glad to hear from you.
Onward!
Debra Walker King, PhD
