Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the registration password?
- The registration password will be sent to all new faculty members approximately three weeks before registration. All new faculty will be sent the password before registration begins. Please make sure that your college submitted your most current contact information so that you will receive the invitation letter and password.
- Is orientation mandatory?
- No, orientation is not mandatory, but we strongly recommend that you peruse the agenda before deciding not to attend. You may find something important that you would otherwise miss out on.
- I went to New Faculty Orientation in the fall. Why was I invited again
- Your name was submitted by your college as a new faculty appointee. If you attended the fall orientation, you do not need to attend again. The same material will be presented.
- Do I have to register for the New Faculty Orientation?
- Yes, you MUST register. This allows us to know how many new faculty appointees will be in attendance. Sessions have limited space so pre-registering is required.
- Registration is closed. What can I do?
- Please send an email to Alison Hightower at ahightower@aa.ufl.edu with NFO Wait List in the subject line.
- What is the cost of New Faculty Orientation?
- New Faculty Orientation is free for all new faculty appointees.
- Will I be compensated for travel to and from the New Faculty Orientation?
- The Provost’s Office and Faculty Development do not offer compensation for travel. Please contact your department chair or dean regarding department or college policies.
- I am a vegetarian. Will there be lunch options for me?
- Yes, the luncheon will offer a vegetarian meal. Please select the vegetarian option when registering.
- Where can I park while I am attending the New Faculty Orientation?
- If you already have a UF decal, you may park wherever that decal allows. Please do NOT park in the garage at Emerson Alumni Hall or in the neighborhoods behind Emerson Alumni Hall. You will receive a ticket or be towed if you park in either of these locations.
- If you need a parking decal for the day, please contact Alison Hightower at 352-392-4835 or via email at ahightower@aa.ufl.edu .

- Do I need to attend the Human Resources Orientation even if I go to the HR session at the New Faculty Orientation?
- Yes, we strongly recommend that all new faculty also attend the HR orientation (separate from the New Faculty Orientation) in order to get more information or arrange for one-on-one consultations with HR professional. For more information visit www.hr.ifas.ufl.edu.
- I did not receive a parking decal with my invitation letter. What should I do?
- Contact Alison Hightower in the Faculty Development office at 352-392-6004 or ahightower@aa.ufl.edu for a replacement parking pass.
- I am having difficulty registering for the New Faculty Orientation on the website. Who should I contact for help?
- Contact Neverson-Anyjah Heatley at 352-392-6004.
- What should I bring to the New Faculty Orientation?
- You don’t need to bring anything to orientation. Paper, pen, and hand-outs will be provided, as well as lunch.
- Where is Emerson Alumni Hall?
- Emerson Alumni Hall is located at 1938 West University Avenue directly across from the stadium. For directions, please visit http://eah.uff.ufl.edu/Parking_Directions.asp
- I still have questions about the New Faculty Orientation. Who should I contact?
