Dr. Paul Basler has achieved recognition as the UF Teacher of the Year, Research Foundation Professor, and Senior Fulbright Lecturer (Kenyatta University).  Despite assuming a heavy teaching load, along with a large number of applied horn students, Dr. Basler’s teaching has remained superior.  He has also been fully engaged as a scholar, composer, and performer.  Several of his publications include textbooks used by more than 200 national and international colleges and conservatories.  As a performer, Dr. Basler has appeared as a guest artist on many occasions at the international, national, and regional level.  As a composer, he has more than 100 published compositions.   His international activities include a 2005 residency with the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama; teaching grants from the Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Culture (1999-2006); and invited presentations at regional, national, and international professional conferences.  Dr. Basler has contributed significantly in service to the profession, campus, and community by his membership on search and advisory committees, the Faculty Senate, and national policy committees, competitions, and contests .
