Dr. Jimmie Hinze is internationally recognized for his contributions to construction safety. In 2003, he received the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Peurifoy Award and the Construction Industry Institute (CII) Outstanding Researcher of the Year award for his research in construction safety—he is the only individual to have received both of these prestigious awards. He is the director of the Center for Construction Safety and Loss Control, which conducts construction safety research. His recently published textbook Construction Safety (2nd edition, 2006) is widely used in the field. Overall, Dr. Hinze has published more than 100 peer-reviewed articles and proceedings papers and has delivered keynote addresses at international conferences
