Professor Harry Klee received in 2006 three NSF grants totaling more than $1.1 million and a USDA/NRI grant for $312,000—all to support his research on fruit flavor and nutrition pathways.  Additionally, $120,000 in SHARE donations were made to support his research.  Dr. Klee has authored or co-authored 10 peer-reviewed publications in very influential journals (e.g., one in Science and two in PNAS).  Klee chairs three Ph.D. committees, serves on an additional nine committees, and mentors two post-doctoral associates in his research program.  He is editor-in-chief of The Plant Journal, a highly respected international journal, and also serves on the Editorial Advisory Board for Critical Reviews in Plant Sciences.  In 2006, Klee was invited and presented at seminars at several universities, institutes, and international meetings.  Klee’s accomplishments this past year, while extraordinary, are ordinary for him.  He is an outstanding faculty member and a world-renowned scientist who brings acclaim to both IFAS and UF.
