Professor Barbara B. Woodhouse is recognized internationally as one of the foremost authorities on, and champion for, children’s rights in the U.S.  Her book, Children’s Rights and American Values, will be published by Princeton University Press in spring 2008 as part of its series “The Public Square,” which is projected to reach a large public audience with essays by public intellectuals on important social justice issues.  Woodhouse’s impact is evident in her selection by the ABAJournal on Human Rights as a “Children’s Rights Hero” in 2005.  She was awarded the Fernand Braudel Senior Fellowship in 2007 at the European University Institute for her project, “Child Welfare from a Comparative and Ecological Perspective.”  The Center on Children and Families she directs continues to host distinguished speakers, youth summits, and multidisciplinary conferences.  Just as important, Woodhouse’s impact lies in the new generation of lawyers throughout the state whom she has educated to advocate children’s rights.
