Professor Ann Horgas is a recognized scholar in the field of aging and gerontological nursing. She has been the recipient of several awards, including the Werley New Investigator Award from the Midwest Nursing Research Society, the Springer Award for outstanding contributions to geriatric nursing, and the Doval Award for Excellence in Nursing Education. She is a fellow of the Gerontological Society of America, which is a preeminent interdisciplinary professional organization, and a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing, the highest honor awarded for leadership in nursing. Horgas' efforts as associate dean for research have substantially contributed to the university and College of Nursing. She has been an exceptional mentor for graduate students and junior faculty members. During the past year, the College of Nursing has risen substantially in the NIH rankings for research funding with the help of Horgas's guidance.
