Nomination Process

The Scholars program was founded August 2004 as a means of rewarding and utilizing our most effective educators, enhancing the learning environment. The selection process is highly competitive and based solely on merit.

The appointment to the Faculty Development advisory council provides a $15,000 discretionary account distributed over a three-year period.

In Spring 2005, five inaugural fellows were selected. Up to five additional members will be appointed each subsequent year, thereby maintaining no more than a total of 15 active members.

Eligibility:

Tenured faculty may be nominated for an Academy position. However, graduate teaching assistants and assistant professors may serve as nominators.

Nomination Form:

The nomination form and other required materials are available in PDF format. All nominations must be received by January 12, 2009. No e-mail nominations will be accepted.

Application Information Form:

The application form and other required materials are available in PDF format. All nominations must be received by January 12, 2009. All Application packets must be received by February 16, 2009.

The Appointment:

The selected scholars will serve a three-year term on the Associate Provost for Faculty Development Advisory Board. A plaque with the names of the Distinguished Teaching Scholars is displayed in the Office of the Provost.
