Frequently Asked Questions
1. What should I include in my application?
--A two-page, double-spaced description of how you integrate pedagogy (including research) in your class AND what you would do to improve teaching at the University of Florida.
--An up-to-date curriculum vitae that highlights your education-related accomplishments, honors and awards.
--A letter of support from your chair (or Dean, if you are the Chair).
--A summary of your student evaluations for the past five years. It should be in tabular form and should include your department and college means.
--Include at least one example of your syllabi per academic year for the last five years.
2. Are faculty on D.R.O.P. eligible?
--Faculty on D.R.O.P. must have at least three years left in their current academic position so they can complete their Academy Scholars' term of service.
3. What does "senior associate faculty" mean?
--"Senior associate faculty" refers to associate professors with a minimum of five years experience. Although non-tenured faculty are currently not eligible, this particular requirement may be re-evaluated for the 2007 nominees.
4. Does the nominator have to provide additional materials with the nomination form (i.e., formal letter of nomination, etc.)?
--No, only the nomination form is required. Applicants are responsible for submission of all other required materials (see question #1).
5. Are faculty on sabbatical eligible?
--Faculty are eligible if they will not be on sabbatical during their time of service (three years).
6. Are educators who have focused their efforts on areas other than research eligible?
--Yes. For example, those with a substantial extension component are eligible.
