2.1. Administrative questions:
2.1.1. Questions on orientation?
Check the Faculty Development website for New Faculty Orientation, to find dates and locations for upcoming orientation sessions. During orientation, you will learn about UF policies and procedures, benefits and financial services, technology resources, campus information, faculty organizations, and much more.
2.1.2. About retirement plans and other benefits?
You will receive benefits information from Human Resource Services during the New Faculty Orientation. Your benefits options vary. You can review faculty benefits on the UF Human Resource Services website.
For specific information on university-level benefits, consult the Faculty Handbook and/or contact Human Resource Services at 352-392-1251 or jmmalph *at* nersp.nerdc.ufl.edu .
2.1.3. My first paycheck?
Paychecks are distributed bi-weekly, usually on Fridays for the previous fortnight of work.

2.1.4. Questions on tenure?
There are several requirements for tenure at the University of Florida , usually including teaching, research, and service. The review process includes university (Presidential and Academic Personnel Board), college, and department-level requirements.
To determine university-level expectations, check out the Faculty Handbook and the UF Regulation 6C1-7.019 (PDF). For each review, you will submit a summary of your accomplishments in the UF Vita format. Forms can be located at the Academic Personnel Office .

2.1.5. Activities towards service requirements for tenure?
Check with your department and/or the Provost's Office about which activities count as service for you.
Service activities could include departmental committees, membership in professional organizations, attending graduation ceremonies, advising students, serving on thesis committees, and so on.
2.1.6. Types of university/senate committees to serve on?
Check out the list of University Committees on which faculty members may serve.
2.1.7. Official UF Regulations and UF Policies?
Check out the list of UF Policies on the General Counsel's site, including topics like Email Policy, IP Policy (PDF), Privacy Policy (PDF), Export Control Policy, Legal FAQs etc.

2.2. Teaching Questions:
2.2.1. About student grade appeals? Student behavior?
Check out the Faculty Handbook sections on Teaching and Students which outline and link such policies and procedures.
The UF Counseling Center provides an excellent source on managing teacher-student interactions in a classroom setting.
2.2.2. Suspected case(s) of cheating or plagiarism?
Besides the UF Regulation on Academic Dishonesty (PDF) and the Faculty Handbook's Resources for Students, which outline your responsibilities and steps to take, consult the matter with your Chair and the Dean of Student's Academic Dishonesty site, which includes the student honor code, the judicial process, FAQ's,
FERPA or Buckley Amendment etc.

2.3.1. Apply for a research grant and funds?
The Office of Research and Graduate Programs has a wealth of funding information and links. Visit the site for help on grants and sponsored research, UF Research Foundation grants or consult their Researcher's Handbook.

2.3.2. More questions on tenure, academics and teaching support, and other faculty policies and procedures?
The Office of the Provost has listings of the Faculty Handbook and more, with sections covering research support, teaching support, student support, campus services etc.
2.4. Academic Technology/IT Questions:
2.4.1. Questions on classroom media services, instructional technology and technology enhanced teaching/learning?
The Office of Academic Technology has an extensive site on faculty services, including sections on Instructional Support, WebCT Vista Online Course Management, Software Licensing Services etc.
2.4.2. Questions on faculty Gatorlink accounts? E-mail services?
The Business Services Division is the central office for all things related to Faculty Gator 1 ID card, parking and faculty decals, UF Bookstore etc.
The Office of Information Technology has an extensive list of faculty related services including Gatorlink (email) accounts, computer accounts, listserves, FAQs etc.
2.5. Library Questions:
2.5.1. Questions on Hardcopy Reserve?
Just because the system is referred to as "Electronic Reserve", doesn't mean that the Library only provides electronic access to reserves materials! Traditional Hard Copy Reserves still exist.
Students will still go to the UF Library's Docutek E-Reserve system to find the information they will need in order to request the reserve item at the desk.
2.5.2. Question on the " E-Reserve" Electronic Reserve?
With the advent of the internet, new scanning technology and e-'everything', more and more classroom materials, many supplemental readings, lecture notes, and other course materials are being made available online on E-Reserve, the electronic reserve management system at UF Libraries.
2.5.3. Question on Library's copyright and fair use policies?
Here at UF, being a non-profit educational institution, many uses of copyrighted materials can be considered fair use.
2.5.4. Materials on reserve and student access?
Hard Copy Reserves are offered in all campus libraries, with books, videos, DVDs, and other materials on reserve behind the circulation desk, usually at the library of your choice.
E-Reserves are available online!!
Students need their active Gatorlink ID and password, with further E-Reserve instructions here.
Typically, Hard Copy Reserve items have a checkout period of two hours and students are not permitted to take the materials out of the library during that period. However, other checkout options are available upon request.
2.5.5. Submission of my reserve list?
Submit your list through the UF Library's Online Reserve Request service.
