Passport to Transfer - Travel Tip 7

Choosing a Major

UF freshmen and sophomores must finalize their choice of major by the third term. Community college students who wish to transfer to UF upon completion of the A.A. degree should choose a major well before they transfer. UF provides two sources of information to help you to choose a major:

  • ISIS contains a section called "Degree Shopping" wherein you can search for a UF major by college, major or subject area. For example, you could search for a major in the area of biological science, or you could search for all majors in the College of Engineering, or you could search for any major that deals with various careers in the media.
  • Go to your community college student services office and obtain the UF brochure entitled Making a Major Decision. It lists all UF majors and the career opportunities each major tends to provide.
  • Discuss with a career counselor at your community college student services office the career opportunities available to majors you may be considering.
