Activities that led to award:

I strive at all times to create a student-centered classroom, with a focus on interdisciplinarity, which helps students to establish their place on campus and in the world. I have mentored students in a variety of capacities and several students I have worked with to help perfect their graduate applications have gained admission to highly competitive graduate and professional schools. I have also worked in a very close capacity with a variety of campus student groups serving on many student-sponsored panels and workshops and also advising groups on issues that affect them. I have a large interest in developing courses that take students and the experience of learning outside of the classroom. In this way I have sought to both significantly expand the experience of learning beyond the classroom and to participate in a dialogue on classroom issues with the wider community.
