Dr. Crisalle received a College of Engineering Teaching Award as a result of his dedication to fostering a high-quality learning environment for undergraduate students at the University of Florida. He utilizes modern pedagogical methods in the classroom, introduces ingenious methods to motivate students to partake in a collective learning experience inside and outside the classroom, and seeks to instill in his students a lasting sense of professionalism and ethics. In collaboration with two other colleagues Dr. Crisalle created a four-day teaching workshop designed to introduce all junior faculty of the College of Engineering to the theory and practice of teaching engineering. The topics of the workshop include a critical review of alternative lecturing methods, techniques for designing meaningful tests and exams, and methods for assessing the effectiveness of a teaching effort. Dr. Crisalle has published extensively his results on the development of novel undergraduate laboratory experiments that can be accessed from remote locations using the Internet.
