Richard Dickinson has demonstrated excellence in teaching by maximizing organization, clarity, and interaction in and out of the classroom. His lectures are organized to target all learning styles while maintaining maximum clarity. His innovative in-class interactive exercises allow students to be active participants in the learning process. In evaluations, students consistently praise his organization, clarity, patience, fairness, and approachability. These comments point to a sensitive yet demanding instructor, one who sets high standards yet cares that each student learns.
Dr. Dickinson has also engaged in education innovation by increasing life sciences in the UF engineering curriculum. In addition to leading the development of a bioengineering option in the Chemical Engineering Department, Dr. Dickinson has been a leader in curriculum development for the new Biomedical Engineering Program.. He developed and taught a new course in Cell & Tissue Engineering (BME 6330).
